Gianna Paniagua is an artist whose meticulously crafted paperworks reflect patterns and concepts relating to human anatomy.  In 1992, she became a heart transplant recipient from Columbia Presbyterian Babies Hospital.  Since then, the experience has shaped her life and, in turn, her work as she comes to terms with the realities of decay of the body.  Essences of her Cuban upbringing and exposure to certain spiritual practices can be found in her work as well.

Gianna received her BA from the University of Pittsburgh.  In the future, she hopes to develop newer, larger, and darker patterns in papercutting.
